Good Times

“Quintuplet Surprise” or “Too Many Babies?”

164 Comments 10 March 2010

Hey everybody!  I hope you all liked the show last Thursday night!  The response has been pretty fantastic from friends and supporters and the folks at Discovery Health are pretty hopped up on it as well…good stuff!  I just got the ratings today and our little show is the highest rated show on DH over the last month with somewhere between 600,00-800,000 viewers.  As you might imagine, we are blown away by these results!

The big test comes next week when TLC airs the show for the first time.  They have two dates set:  Tuesday, the 16th at 9:00 pm Central and Wednesday, the 17th at 12:00 am (midnight) Central.  If we have a solid rating on those two airings, our chances of moving to a series look really, really good.  So if you missed it the first time or would like to keep up with the Joneses in High-Def, tune in Tuesday night!

One little twist that we are unsure of at the moment is the name of the show.  TLC has it listed right now as “Quintuplet Surprise,” but we were told today that this might be a mistake and the name may stay as “Too Many Babies?”  I’ll update as soon as I know for sure, but look for both on your TV guides.

The TV show wasn’t the only excitement in our life this last week, however.  Britton and Brooklyn both decided it was time to give this walking thing a real go…they are so close!!  Check out the video below – I caught both of them in the act in one video clip!  We also had a crazy busy weekend – Nana, Bapa, and Aunt Summer (one of my two adopted sisters) came for a visit, one of our volunteers brought her new baby girl, Lila Grace, by for a visit, we met with the Pisner’s, parents of the ninth set of quints ever born in the US (1983), and somehow I managed to write a paper for my negotiations class…whew!!

Sorry to be so short, but it’s time to spend some veg time on the couch with my lady…good night, everyone!

Might I suggest “Keeping up with the Jones’ as a title? Or maybe that’s down the road as the series moves along. I don’t like the title “Too Many…”, but that’s just me.
One of my hobbies is coming up with titles.

luck to you all and your beautiful kids

I believe “Keeping Up with the Jones’ would be a bit redundant because there is already a show called “Keeping Up with the Kardashians”. However, I agree that “Too Many Babies?” is not such a great title. Maybe, “Juggling Life with the Joneses” or something haha. But anyways, I absolutely love this show already. Your children are all so gorgeous and so smart! Great job!

  10. Paula says:

Thoroughly enjoyed your show!!! Your children are just precious and was just in awe of how calm you both remained!!

  11. Tameisha says:

If they don’t have anything else they definitely have each other, they will never be lonely. Beautiful family it looks like it has been a struggle for you as a couple but your still holding strong I hope to see more and will watch as your children grow. It’s fun to watch them play together. Family is always most important without them life would be meaningless.

  12. I am going to second “Keeping up with the Jones” (not that it’s up to us). Can’t wait for the show to air because it will. It was fantastic and we all want to see you guys stay in that home of yours! Best wishes!

  13. Jae says:

  14. Jill Armstrong says:

I have now seen your show twice and I am a mother of twins, with 3 other children. And everytime I watch your show it gives me more hope that things will get better for us here. The stress of multiples is great and we feel the stress here as well. With “NO” help from others, besides my mother, I understand your stress! I love the twins and as you said at the end “their here and their not going anywhere!”……Thank you for opening up your home and life to US Viewers!!

I can’t wait to watch your series. I am anticpating it being more popular than John and Kate plus Eight. Even though the quintuplets are cute, I’m in love with Elliot and would love to see more of her cute personality.

I am very frustrated, i’ve been looking for your show and can not find it! I’ve gone through the weeks worth of shows on TLC and DHC your show is not on!!! I watched your show ‘ TOO MANY BABIES” on Wed July 14th and fell in love with your family. You are an inspiration! When are you on next? I have direct tv and i truly want to support your family, i’ve talked to everyone about your family and we want to be here for you.

  30. Jen says:

I enjoyed the show tonight. However, I would be EXTRA careful about coming across as too superficial instead of greatful, or people mighy become annoyed.

  31. Donnie Young says:

    Hi,
I loved your show and you have a beautiful family. I had a problem with the comments made in regards to Jack’s head. I am the mother of a beautiful 3 yr. old daughter that was diagnosed with craniosynostosis at 4 months old and had surgery to repair it at 5 1/2 months old. She then did Doc Band therapy for 3 months. I think cranio children are all beautiful and unique in so many ways! I would never refer to their heads as being “messed up or Jacked up”! Your family is beautiful and may God continue to Bless You!

  32. Ellie says:

Just saw the first show last night. I agree the title is not quite a fit…odd question: why do two of your girls have traditional boy names? Oh well, they’re all cute kids. I did think the slant of the show seemed to be on needing money to stay in that beautiful affluent home, and I can see why….however, I agreed with the agent who said “champagne taste on a beer budget”. You don’t want to go the Gosselin route ! But hopefully the show will help with finances. I will look forward to watching the second episode.

  33. Alyssa says:

I really enjoyed the show….It was a big inspiration to me! Good luck in the future!!! :)

  34. Natasha says:

Good luck to you and your growing family! I loved your show and look forward to seeing more!

  35. AMBER says:

WHAT A GREAT SHOW, I HOPE THEY MAKE IT AVAILABLE TO WATCH REGULARY !! EVEN MY HUSBAND ENJOYED WATCHING THE SHOW W ME :)

  36. Denise says:

I love to watch this show. I am a new Mom of triplets and found it so hard to give enough time to all three. You are amazing parents. Also the helmets were good to see. I worried that two of mine were going to need them because I did something wrong; it turns out that is very common with multiples.

  37. Denise says:

Also: I have people tell me all the time “OH MY GOD… are they all yours? God bless you” ….My reply..” God did bless me.. that is how I got three.”

  38. Alyssa says:

You guys are a very loving family…I was wandering when you guys will have some more shows…you Guys are awesome…adorable kids!! ;)

  39. Luis Carrillo says:

Ever since I saw your pilot, I always prayed that god will guide you to what you were meant to have. I am so happy for all of you that you got your show. I know you both had concerns about he possible deterioration of your family and marriage, but your foundation and faith seems much stronger that other former Reality show families. Coming from someone who lost it all, I trully understood what Ethan was saying when he stated quitley in the pilot ” I am trying”. God bless you guys and I wish all the good things that life can bring. But then again you already have that, 6 great kids.

  40. Sarah says:

I am not sure what your back story is, but I can say this much, people need to quit w the overly judgmental positions they take.
It’s not easy raising kids, no matter how much you love them, and multiples, nothing can prepare you for that, nothing.
Being a parent of multis is a special thing, a blessing, but one that can drive over the edge, or at least peeking over the edge of it.
Let them walk in your shoes and they will kiss the ground you walk on afterward.
I am raising my 2.5 year old boys by myself and have been since their birth after my divorce.
If you hear, God Bless You, it’s likely people of Catholic background wanting to invoke a little prayer that their amazement won’t hinder you.
Lots of multis have helmets, as they tend to get all squished in utero. I was lucky and mine seemed to be squish proof.
I will keep you and your family in my thoughts and prayers through this transition into the spotlight and the journey raising your beautiful family.

  41. Isabella says:

WOW you show is really good i could not even think about having 5 babies at one time
and eliot is one lucky girl

  42. Tiffany says:

  43. Diana says:

I just watched the show today and I love every single baby they are so adorable! I love the little one I forgot her name she is such a sweetie pie. I hope yall have many many ratings and I wish yall all the success in the world from the bottom of my heart.

  44. Lindsey says:

I think what you guys are doing is just amazing! You have a beautiful family and I deffinately don’t think you have “too many babies”. haha I come from a family of twelve kids… and NONE of those were multiples. I love seeing Jack in his doc band, I think it is a great thing for people to see that plagiocephaly affects everyday people… LOVE YOU GUYS! GOD BLESS AND GOOD LUCK!

  45. Rachel says:

I just saw your show on TLC and wanted to say what a beautiful family you have. I have 4 kids, ages 9, 7 and twins that are almost 5. It helps to see how other families manage and work together to make it all happen. Sooooooo happy to see another family with a strong faith guiding them through all this. I will pray for you that you can stay true to your values and faith as you go through this television journey.
    Congratulations!

  46. Amanda says:

Hi i watched your show tonight, and wanted to see if there was more to come in the future. I was happy to find your blog, however couldlnt quite figure out why you refered to your sister as adopted. I really did feel it was an important part of the story. I am planning on build my family thru adoption, and feel at least those of us touched by adoption should model positive language. Should my mom reffer to my children as her adopted grandchildren? Thus singling them out negitvly from their other cousins…because they are just adopted cousins? I know you are sweet and hope you get the point. You used a sperm donner and I am sure that you would not use language that would ever diminish the relationship that they have with their father. Please educate yourself on proper positive langauge for adoption!

  47. Sarah says:

I watched both episodes of the show on TLC and loved it! (in fact I watched it twice and DVR’d it so I can watch again)

I see you guys are having a hard time and speaking from experience it can only get better. I am so sorry you are having to go through tough times. You will get through it – you appear to be a strong family. Keep your head (heads x 8?) up.

I will keep watching and hoping for you guys. Good luck. BTW – Third vote for Keeping up with the Jones. :)

I love your show, and I certainly love the names you picked out. Some people might not like using boy names as girl names but I find that Eliot is such an adorable name for a little girl!
