Good Times

“Quintuplet Surprise” or “Too Many Babies?”

164 Comments 10 March 2010

Hey everybody!  I hope you all liked the show last Thursday night!  The response has been pretty fantastic from friends and supporters and the folks at Discovery Health are pretty hopped up on it as well…good stuff!  I just got the ratings today and our little show is the highest rated show on DH over the last month with somewhere between 600,00-800,000 viewers.  As you might imagine, we are blown away by these results!

The big test comes next week when TLC airs the show for the first time.  They have two dates set:  Tuesday, the 16th at 9:00 pm Central and Wednesday, the 17th at 12:00 am (midnight) Central.  If we have a solid rating on those two airings, our chances of moving to a series look really, really good.  So if you missed it the first time or would like to keep up with the Joneses in High-Def, tune in Tuesday night!

One little twist that we are unsure of at the moment is the name of the show.  TLC has it listed right now as “Quintuplet Surprise,” but we were told today that this might be a mistake and the name may stay as “Too Many Babies?”  I’ll update as soon as I know for sure, but look for both on your TV guides.

The TV show wasn’t the only excitement in our life this last week, however.  Britton and Brooklyn both decided it was time to give this walking thing a real go…they are so close!!  Check out the video below – I caught both of them in the act in one video clip!  We also had a crazy busy weekend – Nana, Bapa, and Aunt Summer (one of my two adopted sisters) came for a visit, one of our volunteers brought her new baby girl, Lila Grace, by for a visit, we met with the Pisner’s, parents of the ninth set of quints ever born in the US (1983), and somehow I managed to write a paper for my negotiations class…whew!!

Sorry to be so short, but it’s time to spend some veg time on the couch with my lady…good night, everyone!

  1. Great picture, great videos and great to read that the show was so well supported. All round great really :)

  2. Stacy says:

SO, SO, SO Cute!!! We wondered what the ratings ended up being. That is awesome!!! Crossing our fingers, toes, arms, legs, eyes…..

  3. shirlie christner says:

I am so happy that the ratings were that wonderful. Our family is ready for some HD. I think the show should be an old cliche’ Keeping up with the Jonses’. Whatever the name I will pray that your family is guided in the right direction. I am also curious are you still in your remarkable custom home ? My son also wore a helmet-his lil head was crooked on one side. After 6 1/2 long months and two helmets he has a well shaped head his eyes and forehead are dramatically better. Our pedi explained it as the way he was in the uterus and birth canal. I hope Jacks head turns out so well. We had a UT helmet and a farm animals one. People gave us some strange looks, but, with quints I am sure you are used to that.

  4. Tori says:

I love how Brooklyn makes this face like, “Yeah, I’m pretty awesome…”

  5. Klin says:

I vote for Keeping up with the Jones! Is that an option?

I loved the videos. It’s so cool to watch them moving around and especially walking!

  6. Hilary says:

I loved your show and I hope it gets picked up as a series. We have a 21 month old and twin 4 month olds (all boys) and while it’s no where near as hectic as your house, it sure is a whirlwind for us! Good luck!

  7. Ellegirl says:

I’ll be watching and I’ll help spread the word too! Love the videos!!

  8. Ellegirl says:

PS. Jack’s helmet comes in handy when banging heads with his sisters! lol :)

  9. Shelley Barron says:

I just looked on my guide & the show is listed at Quint Surprise. The fun is about to begin with all those walkers! Nothing is safe anymore!! Too cute fighting over the ball! Our boys get in the floor & wrestle over toys…funny stuff. Reese just sits back & watches!

  10. Kk's Mom says:

I just saw the promo for your show on TLC. I am so excited for your family. God Bless you all as you begin what can become an incredible journey. Please, please, Mom and Dad, always be kind to one another on the show, and make a commitment to each other and to your precious brood to keep your family from becoming a media circus. (You know where I am coming from!!) Good luck!

  11. OKLady says:

Hey! I came here by way of seeing the promo for your new show! I wanted to say how excited I am for y’all and your precious babies and that I am adding y’all to my prayer list!

As for the negative naysayers, just remember: that anger stems from the fear, the intuition that they are doing the wrong thing themselves. This sense of conscience is the little bit that God still holds of them. If they were completely gone, they would not bother. These are the most worthwhile to pray for, because as halfway as they’re gone from God, they’re halfway to Him, also!

  12. johanna says:

    Hello,

I am excited for you guys because I am also from Austin. I even attended the church service when the congregation presented you with the “fab five” onesies. :)

I am sure you have thought about the opportunity for a series through and through…..however, I feel like God is pressing for me to say, “Be careful about getting caught in the public eye. Don’t do it just for the money. Please take the Jon & Kate series as an example and do it for the glory of God, not the glory of money.”

I wish you all the best and good luck tonight!

  13. Kim says:

I couldn’t have said it any better than Kk’sMom and johanna! May God Bless you all, keep you safe and above all, may He Bless the two of you with undying love and devotion for each other and for you 6 beautiful children.

Never say unkind words to each other (especially during taping of a show), don’t constantly talk about how much the new babies are costing you. It should be about how much love you have to give them – not how many outfits, pairs of shoes, etc.

Times are sure to get better. My husband is also in the home-building business (construction/carpentry) and is presently laid off. I’m disabled and presently without prescription insurance. So we know your struggle all too well.

Just be happy and thank God every day for your precious children. He wouldn’t have given you the chance to have them all, if He didn’t think that you wouldn’t love them and provide for them the best that you could.

Again, God Bless you all and I loved your show and your adorable children!!

  14. kelly says:

I absolutely LOVED your show! I will be praying for your family and may He lead you down the path in which He desires! So glad you shared your story and fun*crazy life!

  16. Ginny says:

Your show was amaizing and it is amazing to see that there is a couple out there that can be so honest about the ups and downs and not hide the difficulty and fears from the babies, to the fear of life left behind and life to come. If you keep it real and do not deny the difficulties and remember to always communicate and dont judge eachother until you try on the other persons life for the day. You will be the sucessful family with so many kids who does not tear each other apart on TV. God Bless i hope that a series will help with the income and i will watch every show for sure.

  17. Claire says:

Watching your show now! I love it! I’ve cried, laughed and cheered you on. You two are amazing together, and your family is incredible. I admire your resiliency and courage.

Best of luck to your entire family. You’re in my prayers. I hope for the best for all your futures.

  18. John says:

Great show just saw it late on Tuesday March 16. What challenges you face in this economy, but what a wonderful family to help you get through it. I hope the show gets picked up. We are from Houston and look forward to watching the new series, I cant see how it wont get picked up. Wishing you nothing but the best

  19. annie says:

Greetings Joneses! I just saw your show tonight on TLC. It was encouraging when I went to your website and saw Matt. 5:16! Keep pressing into Jesus will all you’ve got!! He has put you in this extraordinary position for a reason! Thank you for shining HIS light to others!! I pray that He will continue to bless you!

  20. CJ says:

It should definitely be “Keeping Up With the Joneses” – that is perfect!!! TLC, are you listening? :~)

  21. Sara A says:

Watched your show tonight for the first time, and loved watching the babies and you both growing…..Evan, I have just one suggestion, trust God,He will provide. I heard a lot of worry in your voice and that’s very understandable, but believe me, as one who has had to depend solely on , He has never failed me. You are all in my prayers. Hope to see many more shows.

  22. kAREN says:

I just watched your show. I am a twin myself but I can’t imagine being a quint. Your family is beautiful. I was so glad to see that God is a supporting presence in your lives. I wish you all the best of luck! I hope you get your series as I feel that your family has an entirely different agenda than other families who recently aired their final show. I also love the keeping up with the Jones as a title for your show. May god bless your family and all those who are in your lives and those who touch your life and help you out. Good Luck and hopefully I will be watching your series soon. Karen

  23. Deanna says:

Glad to see TLC is adding another quality show to their roster. “Quintuplet Surprise” will garner tons of popularity with each new segment …(and I hope there’s lots of them on the TLC Scheduled Line Up) ..I love this show and I wish this family all the luck in the world. They deserve “Good Fortune and Prosperity”..knocking on their door. :-)

  24. Lisa says:

I just watched the show last night! Anything to do with babies and families I’m hooked! I just wanted to comment on Britton. I have a son whose almost 8 and his name is Britton. Sometimes he gets upset because he never sees or hears of others with his name. I saved the show on our DVR and showed it to him first thing this morning. He was overjoyed. I was just wondering where you came up with the name? We got it from my mother in laws maiden name. I think it is a beautiful name for a boy or girl. Beautiful family guys. Keep up the good work.

  25. Irene says:

Best of luck…. What a wonderful family. I loved the show and hope you are all doing well. I would definitely watch this series!!

  26. Stefanie says:

Caught the show last night on TLC –LOVED IT!! I’m with Klin on naming the show “Keeping up with the Joneses”!! Hope to see more episodes. Love to keep up with the babies — so cute!!

  27. Susie says:

Caught the show last night and loved it! For your sake I hope they make it into a series. After past TLC shows my husband almost made me change the channel, but saw enough of Ethan to watch with me :) Thanks for being stable parents – NOTHING is worth not staying that way. Bless all 8 of you!

  28. Leslie says:

Hi! My husband and I watched the show last night on TLC. We both loved it! I was so worried for you all having to move from your home with the babies. I hope and pray that doesn’t have to happen. Your family is adorable and I hope you all get picked up for a series! I will definitely love “Keeping up with the Jones!”

  29. Gary says:

We’re from Minnesota and we loved your show. You are such a real family with not only the challenges of the five babies plus another child but also the stresses of the economy. We hope you do get a series and some financial stability so you can enjoy your great family.

  30. Lindsay says:

As a young mother of two children that have me running around in circles everyday I could not imagine what it is like for you! I have so much respect for you and what great parents and couple you portrayed on the show when I watched it on TLC! I hope you are able to be picked up so we can enjoying watching those beautiful babies grow with such loving parents and big sister!

  31. Marg says:

Hi, I watched your show last night and totally fell in love with your family! I will pray that you get a series and God uses your family to win hearts for Christ.

  32. Karen says:

I just watched the show last night and it was good. I hope that everything works out in your favor. If you do get the series. Please remember to stay grounded and not get too big for your britches. I liked the show because you seem like you are very grounded and realistic about your future and what the two of you as a couple are facing with all your children. You actually seem like a real couple that wants to keep a great marriage and family life. Good luck in your future endeavors whatever they may be. I will be watching and waiting to hear. P.S. I hope you get to stay in your beautiful house.

  33. Anne K. says:

Watched you on DVR from my TLC recording. I love, loved you guys. I appreciated your honesty about your financial situation. No matter what anyone says, despite the finances, how could you ever have less than those 5 beautiful faces smiling back at you. Hope you get picked up for a series. I want to see more, more, more.

  34. tonya says:

OMG. . . I am hooked. I loved the show and have been telling everyone I know about it. It has to be a series as I cannot wait to see more!!

  35. Tania says:

I recorded your show and just watched it today, and loved it!! You guys have such a beautiful family. I found myself tearing up a couple of times. I have a 5 year old son and gave birth to twin girls in October 2008 so I can kind of relate to your struggles. It is so great to see how Ethan and Casey work together and are willing to do whatever it takes to care for their family. I am going to send a note to TLC right now, they must make this a series. Good luck, can’t wait to see more of the Jones family!

  36. Kay says:

I enjoyed your show and have a lot of respect for the very realistic, frank way you explained your current life – both good and bad parts.

If you get the chance for a series, think it over very, very carefully. You don’t want to end up like another family on TLC with lots of children.

Have you come to any decision on a house for your family?

    Good luck.

  37. carol says:

nice show. much better than jon and kate because you are real people. hope you get a show and do not exploit the kids like kate did.

  38. Bea Bramati says:

God Bless all of you. I loved your show. The babies and cutie pie Eliot are adorable.

I HOPE TLC picks up your family. You are both an inspiration. Very grounded and real. Were you able to stay in your home? I hope so.

    Bea

  39. roseanne says:

Just saw your show-so loved it :) Wanted to find out when it would be on again and came across your website. Hope the show continues and wish you the best of luck!!

  40. Jodi Lee says:

I LOVE the show. Love, love, love it!!! I am from Canada and I decided to stay up editing some pictures and your show came on. It is 1:36 a.m. and I can’t shut the TV off. I have three kids (piece of cake, eh) and should be sleeping, but nope….shows too good! Wishing you all the luck in the world!

  41. Heidi says:

Loved the show! I was surprised that the only treatment option offered for the 2 babies with cranial assymetry were the molding helmets. Healing happens from the inside out, not through pressure from the outside in. Craniosacral therapy utilizes this law of healing, correcting the underlying restrictions inside that are creating the assmetry. My own son was treated with craniosacral therapy for his misshapen head and it was highly successful and improved his overall health.
Best wishes to you and your family.

  42. Colette says:

Loved the show!!! I love you open honesty about your feelings and the struggles. A real life perspective. I hope you guys replace the John and Kate plus 8 show. Would love to watch your kids grow up…

Just stay together no matter what!!!

  43. haley says:

  44. Hi Jones Family! My husband and I sat and watched your sweet show tonight. We have 3 “babies” and we kept saying to each other…WOW…can you imagine? People always ask us how we do it with our bunch. I was encouraged by the way you treated each other in the midst of your stress. I am going to be praying for you and can’t wait to see how God uses this show to help you guys!!!

  45. Melanie says:

Could you please tell me where you got your, Jones’ Quintuplet bag from? I love it and think it is absolutely adorable! :D

  46. Misty says:

I’m so glad your show might get picked up for a series. I watched the special the other day and I was thinking “I really hope they give these folks a regular show.”

Also it was nice to see you and your husband making time for each other with a special date night. I know it must be hard with that many kids, it’s hard for me and I only have 2. You really seem to have your priorities straight. I think that was Jon and Kate’s biggest problem, they didn’t make time for each other.

  47. Lora says:

My daughter Brooklyn is obsessed with the first episode because there’s a baby with her name. She keeps askng to watch the show with five babies. May God continue to bless you and your family.

  48. Natalie says:

Hi, I just watch your show last night with my husband. I wanted to say you have an amazing family! I have three kids, two of them are twins! We know how hard it is to make it. We struggle everyday.
We loved watching your family and hope to see more!

  49. Linda says:

Do you know now whether you will have a regular show for sure. I sure hope so because I really enjoyed the one I saw. Please let us know.

    Thanks!

  50. Jan says:

I normally hate reality family shows! I ADORED this one, we were laughing, worrying, and frustrated right along with this beautiful couple…we are already planning to watch the next show, wow TLC got it right this time! See you next week!
