Quints By Surprise – Trail Running, San Antonio, and Vomit…Oh Yeah!!

12 Comments 16 May 2011

TLC’s website describes it like this:

“The Joneses are headed to San Antonio to make a special delivery to a military family in need. On the way, they stop to visit the Alamo and take the quints to the zoo for the very first time.”

I describe it like this:

The Joneses head to San Antonio and Britton vomits before they get 5 minutes down the road.  By the end of the trip, our kids burn down the Alamo, scare away the animals at the zoo, and vomit all over our friends’ home.  In spite of the madness, we manage to have a good time, secure an invitation back to our friends’ place, and meet an amazing family to show our respect and love for the men and women of the U.S. military.  As always, life is good!!

And that’s just the first episode!!  The second episode of the evening takes the whole family out of its comfort zone all in the name of helping Casey regain her fitness routine and her sanity!  Five babies, grandma and grandpa, the wild child, Eliot McKenna, a 5K, mud, hills, bumps, and bruises all in one episode??  You bet!!

Also, before I let you go, I’ve got to tell you about the new little feature we have been working on.  We get tons of emails from people wondering where we get some of the cool/fun/funky stuff that we have for the babies.  So we put together a collection of all of the most asked about stuff and put it in one place for everyone to see.  Check it out here:  JonesLife Collection! The link takes you to the “As Seen on Quints By Surprise” category, but while there you can browse other categories such as Multiples Must Haves, Blogs and Websites, Eliot, Kitchen and Nutrition, and many others.  And just so you know, absolutely ZERO of the items you see are sponsored by the companies that sell the product.  These are items that we truly love and get a great deal of use out of.  If you see something you love, you can click through to the company’s site and check it out from the maker firsthand.

And last, but not least…new webisodes have been posted!  If you haven’t seen them yet, click here:  TLC’s Quints By Surprise Webisodes! You’ll see the Fab Five’s first haircuts, a baby date I had with Ryan, how to start a fire with six little helpers, and many more!  I hope you enjoy them and I hope you enjoy the show!

God bless,

Ethan

Loving the webisodes!!! Living in continued hope that ONE day the show will make it to a channel here in Australia. Or else I might just have to fly back to Hawaii where I managed to catch TWO episodes when were visiting there last November. Thank you for continuing to share your international soccer superstar Eliot and the quints with all of us lucky enough to be inspired by you and Casey.

I just want to say that after watching your San Antonio episode, I am amazed at how inconsiderate you all were for the health of the families you were visiting. Once Jack threw up at dinner, it was obvious that it was a contagious stomach bug. Yet you went proudly marching in to your friend’s home the next day, and probably infected each and every one of them and the other poor lady’s children. No wonder you haven’t been invited back. Have a little compassion for others. Especially single moms who have overseas husbands and already have enough on their plates. Until this episode, I have loved your show.

Mandy, give them a break. You can’t keep kids in a bubble!

I love your show. I live in Austin and had been waiting on a southern multiples show..a good one, and I found it in you guys. Your kiddos are ADORABLE. I have twins and my 3 year old loves his 2 babies. I love how you all engage Eliot in all that goes on. I asked the twins “what if there was 5 of u guys” and they started crying…priceless! May God continue to bless your home, your family, and any other endeavors you may run into. I used to run 5k’s before our kids and plan to run one this November w/ the family…hope all goes as well as ya’lls did. Ya’lls show gets 10 thumbs up! Be Blessed!

Dina-you may not be able to keep kids in a bubble, but you CAN prevent the spread of illness by keeping your sick children away from other kids and adults. Why purposefully get others sick with a stomach virus when you can prevent it? That is inconsiderate no matter how you look at it. Now, if EVERYONE knew the kids were vomiting, and they didn’t mind their well children being around the sick kids, then that’s a totally different issue. I’m just hoping they did tell that poor mom with 6 kids in advance that she was going to be around kids who were vomiting.

  6. Mandy says:

I just want to say, that I apologize for what I said here. I was under the impression that no one knew the kids were sick, but apparently they knew and did not mind. So I’m sorry I made such a fuss. I’m just so careful with my own little girls about spreading illnesses and trying to keep them from getting sick. I still enjoy your show very much and will continue to watch.

Hello! — I NEVER write to networks or comment on people’s websites, but I just had to tell you how much I LOVE watching your show!! Your family is so inspiring (I am the Mom of four kids under 5 years old) and I love how kind and patient you are to each other. You remind me very much of my family! I wrote to TLC to share my opinion, but wondered if you knew why they were not supporting the show more? For example, why aren’t they showing more re-runs during the week to gather more viewers who miss it on Monday nights? Have you heard any news about the ratings yet? I hope you are back for another season! God Bless you and your family.

Thanks Ethan and Casey for sharing your crazy life…it is so awesome to see you two and the way you look at each other with such love and laugh all the time. Your kids are adorable and Eliot is the most wonderful big sister those Quints could ask for.

    Praying for you all!

    God Bless!

I just wanted to say that I am in bed alot due to a chronic illness. I don’t watch alot of tv shows regularly, but the tv is on quite a bit for background noise. But since I discovered your sweet little family, I have been a regular viewer, and just wanted to tell you that I always am sure to get a smile or a giggle when watching your little sweeties! The episode to the zoo….and the tummy bugs….was one that I just had to laugh at! I cannot imagine having soo many little ones, then having them ill…lol, trying to have a vacation or visit…you 2 are strong and patient people for sure! I have only 2 kids, one now 23 and one 17…I can’t even fathom having so many at once…I thought one at a time was rough! But just wanted to say I do enjoy your show, you are a wonderful family and your inspiring to watch! Thanks for sharing your lives with us.
    Tammy
